This will describe how to install the printing utility enscript onto windowsXP. A more complete description can be found here.

Download the zipped files en150_i.zip, and uncompress them to this folder:

  C:\enscript

Edit the autoexec.bat file, and add the above folder location to the path setting:

  SET PATH=%PATH%;C:\ENSCRIPT;

Reboot.

To test the installation on the windows XP machine, open a dos box and test it with this command:

  > enscript -2Gr -P\\printer_server\printer_name   autoexec.bat

where, printer_server, is the name of the computer that is the printer server, and printer_name, is the name of the printer.

Here we printed autoexec.bat, but any filename, generally a text file, can be substituted.
